Josie Van Gent Edell Watercolor and Limited Edition Print

An original watercolor and a limited edition offset lithograph on paper of work by watercolorist Josie Van Gent Edell (1921-2007) of South Carolina homes. This two-piece collection includes an original watercolor titled On Church Street depicting a home lined with trees and a paved street. The collection also includes an offset lithograph of an original watercolor titled Early Morning in Charleston depicting the porch of a house. The print is numbered 319 in an edition of 500 to the lower left and both pieces are signed by hand in graphite to the lower corners of the main image. Each piece is mounted under matting, glass and presented in gold tone metal frames. The verso of the smaller frames features an article about the artist published in The State newsletter. Edell was born in Amsterdam, Netherlands and graduated from the Academy of The Hague. During the 1960s, Edell moved to Charleston, South Carolina where she received numerous awards and recognition in the South Carolina Watercolor Society and Charleston Artist Guild for her watercolors of the historic town.
