Hand-Knotted Persian Wool Area Rug

A hand-knotted wool area rug in red and dark blue, having an allover herati motif in style resembling a Luri pattern. The large rug features double pendant medallion, having a red diamond shaped medallion with pendants at each corner, inside a navy blue pentagonal field with a toothed edge, and red spandrels. Herati designs in shades of light blue, red, and yellow fill the space inside the medallion and field. The dark blue main border and yellow guard borders depict large flowerheads and a meandering scrolled border in the field colors on an indigo field. The rug is finished with a dark blue overcast edges on the longer side and short white cotton fringe at the shorter ends. Unmarked.
