A signed limited edition serigraph on rag paper titled Caves by well-listed New York geometric abstractionist Allan D’Arcangelo (1930-1998), dated 1979. D’Arcangelo, best known for his images of abstracted road signs and highways, made no exception with this work, as he infuses a light blue solid backdrop with black and white cautionary directional chevrons and hazardous yellow and red stripes. The print is numbered 35 in an edition of 175, signed and dated by the artist in pencil along the lower margin. This piece is not framed. D’Arcangelo’s work is represented in the collections of numerous reputable institutions, including Burchfield-Penney Art Center; Whitney Museum of American Art; Boca Raton Museum of Art; Dallas Museum of Art; Print Club of Albany; Butler Institute of American Art; The Empire State Plaza Art Collection; and the Fine Arts Collection of Luther College, among many others.
