E.F. Griffin Charcoal Drawing in Paper of Conway Castle
Item Details
A charcoal drawing on paper of Conway Castle by E. F. Griffin. Dated to 1966, the work depicts the medieval castle, located on the northern coast of Wales in Conway. Originally built by King Edward I during his conquest of Wales. Currently in disrepair and undergoing maintenance and repairs, the castle stands today as a tourist attraction. To the lower center the print is titled and to the right corner is the date and signature. To the verso is a faded framer’s label. Under a single layer of mat with a French line, the work is presented under glass in a wood frame.
Condition
- foxing and charcoal dust present to mat; overall discoloration to mat; minor scuffing to frame; water stain to mat along left side near frame.
