An impressionist oil painting on canvas of a coastal landscape, signed ‘P. Black’. Portrayed with loose painterly brushstrokes, dabs of pigments, and thick layered impasto, this textural work features a hilly coast with large rocky formations along the sea. A few people are visible on the rocky coast or float in small boats on the water; small houses line the bank to left side of the picture plane. Earth tones are accented with pinks and purples throughout the composition. Signed in black to the lower left, the painting is presented in a gold-tone wood frame with a low-relief pattern, linen liner, and gold-tone wood fillet.
