An original 1980 four-color serigraph on paper by Cincinnati artist and inventor Tom Lohre, titled Marilyn Monroe. The print depicts an iconic portrait of American actress and celebrity personality Marilyn Monroe posing with a bottle of Chanel No. 5 perfume. The piece is printed in CMYK coloring in halftone-style dots. The print is signed and numbered 3 from an edition of 50 in pencil to the lower corners; the artist’s first name is signed “Thos,” a nickname short for Thomas that the artist sometimes used earlier in his career. The print is double-matted in shades of purple and is presented behind glass in a wooden frame with gold tone finish and a hanging wire. Lohre claims to be the first to have ever painted a spaceship from life; he also painted the eruption of Mt. Saint Helens from life.
