An original oil and acrylic painting with textured sand accents on a birch paneled construction by contemporary reputed Iowa artist Tim Wirth, titled Lord Have Mercy. The painting depicts a busy, surreal scene where an odd array of characters — including dogs, a lion, a robot, a ghost, and more — stand spread across a vivid green grassy field. A second painting, which depicts a plump strawberry, is visible to the verso, where the painting is also signed, dated, and titled by the artist. The piece is presented in a simple blonde wooden slat-style frame with a hanging wire. Wirth is best-known for his two-sided square ‘compositions’ that are meant to function more as two-dimensional objects than as flat paintings.
