19th Century Chinese Teapot

Item Details

A 19th century Chinese teapot. This unusual, crudely made piece, features a central design with ‘longma’ (mythological horse headed dragon), upon which a woman with two children ride. Drawn outlines are visibly unpainted around the head of the beast; whether this is intentional or accidental is unknown. The color palette includes purple, teal, lime-green, yellow and rust-orange; with a double happiness symbol under the spout and to the back where a handle normally would be, but has been replaced by four finger grips instead.
