Item Details
A circa 1900 Webster’s Mammoth Packet Seeds counter display box. The wooden box features a rectangular, hinged lid above a conforming body with dovetail construction. It retains an original, colorful lithograph on the lid interior depicting an assortment of fruits and vegetables. There is a partial decal on the front panel of the body. The lithograph reads ‘Packed By Mel. L. Webster, Seedsman, Independence, Iowa. / High Grade, Double Size, Double Quantity. / Stecher Litho. Co., Rochester, N.Y.’ The underside is inscribed ‘5797 / 39 / #102’.
Condition
- scratches, nicks, and wear consistent with age; some moisture stains to box and lithograph; some losses to decal on front panel and some small losses to lithograph on lid.
