A watercolor painting on paper titled Holy Cross – Mt. Adams, created in 1968 by listed Ohio-based artist Radia S. Pfingstag (1906-2001). This work features a view of the Holy Cross Monastery and Church – a historic landmark located atop Mt. Adams neighborhood in Cincinnati, Ohio. The red church is obscured by trees, houses, and other neighborhood architecture. The church’s tower and the peaked roof are silhouetted against a clear blue sky. The painting is dated and signed with the artist’s pseudonym ‘Swan’ to the lower left. It is presented with white matting, cardboard backing, and remains unframed. The artist’s business card and handwritten title are present to the verso.

Radia S. Pfingstag is best known for her landscape, still lifes and abstract watercolors. She was an active English teacher in Cincinnati, Ohio. She acquired her English and History Bachelor’s from Miami University and subsequently an American English Master’s degree from Columbia University. Pfingstag began her artistic training during her high school years when she assisted to classes at Cincinnati Art Academy and posteriorly returned to painting during the last years of her life.
