A souvenir Russian icon egg. The piece was hand painted in the style of iconography. The subject depicts a madonna and child and has both gilding and sopra bianco (white enamel). The egg is inscribed with the abbreviated Greek script ‘МР ѲY’ (Mother of God) and ‘IC XC’ (Jesus Christ). It is signed by the artist ‘ГК’ to the bottom.
