A Boehm limited edition bisque porcelain bird Forster’s Tern Cresting. The sculpture is a naturalistic hand painted depiction of a bird as its landing in water. The model number is 40224 and edition number is 234. Maker’s mark to the underside. Boehm Porcelain was started by Edward Marshall Boehm (1913-1969), an American sculptor most known for the porcelain birds and wildlife sculptures he created, promoted by his equally well-known spouse, Helen Boehm. Together, the two founded E.M. Boehm Studios. Works created in the studio are in the Metropolitan Museum of Art, and the studio is known for its fine and elegant sculptural work owned by museums, royalty and celebrities worldwide.
