A Boehm limited edition bisque porcelain bird Blue Jay. Featured is a large delicate naturalistic hand painted porcelain bird depicted standing on a branch and eating berries. The piece is model number 40910 and numbered 118 of 300. Signed ‘Boehm’ to the base and maker’s mark to the underside. Boehm Porcelain was started by Edward Marshall Boehm (1913-1969), an American sculptor most known for the porcelain birds and wildlife sculptures he created, promoted by his equally well-known spouse, Helen Boehm. Together, the two founded E.M. Boehm Studios. Works created in the studio are in the Metropolitan Museum of Art, and the studio is known for its fine and elegant sculptural work owned by museums, royalty and celebrities worldwide.
