Published by the Easton Press of Norwalk, Connecticut, this pair features a 1977 copy of The Tales of Guy de Maupassant with illustrations by Gunter Böhmer bound in red leather and a 1978 copy of Madame Bovary with Pierre Brissaud’s illustrations engraved in wood by Théo Schmied bound in blue leather. Both books feature gilt ornamentation on the covers and gold tone script with raised bands on the spine.
