Item Details
An original Artist’s Proof signed 1979 hand-pulled lithograph on paper by well-listed Abstract Expressionist painter Jack Meanwell (Cincinnati, 1919-2005). The print depicts three abstracted figures printed in gestural black linework and fields of ink. It is signed, dated, and labeled an Artist’s Proof in pencil to the lower margin. It is presented behind glass in a composite black frame with a hanging wire. Meanwell holds a special place among collected Cincinnati painters and is often associated with fellow Cincinnati painter Paul Chidlaw. The pair had their works exhibited together in 2010 at the Mary Ran Gallery, in an exhibit called “Paul Chidlaw and Jack Meanwell-Battle of the Abstract Expressionists.”
