1930s Mexican Hand-Painted and Carved Wood Plaque

A 1930s Mexican hand-painted and carved bas-relief wooden plaque. This work depicts a woman sitting near the base of a large cactus with a basket of fruit in a palette of red, blue, green, yellow, and white. The piece is monogrammed to the lower left corner, it appears to read ‘JM’. The natural wood frame is part of the plaque itself and has hanging hardware to the reverse. The piece is accompanied by a description of the work.

Condition

- some paint loss to upper right; some scratches; a nick just left of the cactus.
