Item Details
An original signed and edition etching by Jackson Lee Nesbitt (American, 1913-2008), titled Rod Mill-Sheffield Steel Corporation. The print depicts figures working in a steel mill and is signed by hand and numbered 23 out of 60 to the lower border. The print is presented in a black metal frame with affixed wiring to the verso.
Nesbitt was a student of artists Thomas Hart Benton and John de Martelly at the Kansas City Art Institute during the 1930s and early 1940s. Nesbitt is known for his rich etchings of working-class America, although out of financial necessity he eventually had to give up his printmaking practice for a career in advertisement.
