A copy of Egmont by Johann Wolfgang von Goethe. This tragedy was written by Goethe in 1788 and has been translated for English publication by Arthur Duke Coleridge of the King’s College in Cambridge. This copy is presented in a maroon hardcover with gilt ornamentation and lettering to the cover and spin, it was published by Chapman & Hall of London in 1868 and also includes an illustration by J.E. Millais.

- cover is worn on the spine, corners, edges, and the cap and tail; binding is beginning to loosen; foxing to pages; handwriting on flyleaf; some pages bent and wear along edge.
