An original acrylic painting on canvas by reputed Cincinnati artist Gayle Gillette Hummel. The painting depicts a stylized image of a woman seated by the seaside, wearing a long pink gown and a wide-brimmed hat. The buttery paint has been applied with heavy impasto directly from a palette knife, adding pronounced texture and dimension to the piece. The painting is signed in purple to the lower left and is presented in a composite frame with cast surface embellishments, gold tone finish, and a hanging wire. Gayle Hummel is a native of Terrace Park in Cincinnati, Ohio who studied fine art at both Miami University and The University of Cincinnati. Her work can be found in many galleries and private collections worldwide. Her work was also chosen by the late Princess Diana to be hung in a Children’s hospital in England.
