Ernesto Yerena and Arlene Mejorado Collaborative Signed Limited Edition Serigraph "Indigenous Roots Denied... No More"

Item Details

A 2016 signed limited edition serigraph on cream paper created collaboratively by well-listed American social activist and artist Ernesto Yerena Montejano and contemporary multimedia artist Arlene Mejorado, titled Indigenous Roots Denied… No More. The print depicts a young Native American girl standing with her arms spread in front of vivid stripes of color as two eagles soar behind her. The piece is signed, dated, and numbered 113/200 in pencil to the lower margin. Presented without matting or framing. Yerena’s work is fueled by his cross-national background, having been brought up in the small farm town of El Centro, California, which borders both America and Mexico. He uses his work to bring political concerns to light, creating images of cultural and political icons as well as everyday people. Yerena is the founder and curator of the Alto Arizona Art campaign (2010) as well as a founding member of the We Are Human campaign (2009). He has collaborated with many artists, including Shepard Fairey. Montejano is currently based in San Antonio, and is a co-founder of digital storytelling platform Mujeres en Medio and editor of women’s photography magazine Optica.
