A Chinese Aubusson-inspired needlepoint rug in wool. This geometric area rug achieves an illusion of three dimensions with a complex, shaded palette dominated by shades of tan and brown, red, ivory, taupe, lilac, and green. The field features an interlocking pattern of squares and crosses containing floral and foliate elements. A crenelated inner border surrounds the field, while the major border alternates octagons and squares with circular accent shapes along with foliage and flowers. The piece has a manufacturer’s sticker on the reverse.

- reverse side has loose threads consistent with the practice of needlepoint.
