George III Style Mahogany Breakfront Secretaire by Baker
Item Details
A George III Style inlaid mahogany breakfront secretaire by Baker Furniture. This mahogany breakfront is crafted of crotch mahogany solids and veneers. It has a pierced broken pediment at the top with dentil molding along the edge. The cabinet section of the piece has reeded edge adjustable shelves with grooves at the back for displaying plates. The doors of the cabinet are sectioned into 13 panes of glass reminiscent of the 13 colonies. The top drawer of the bottom section is a false front that flips open to reveal a leather covered writing surface and an interior fitted with cubbyholes and small drawers. It has drawers beneath of dovetail construction and with Hepplewhite style bail pulls. There is a cabinet on the left and right bottom side of the piece and it rests on a flat base.

- some scratches to drawer fronts and minor scuffs throughout; nterior shelving has some scratching. Top right drawer handle is loose. Covering on interior panel of top fold out drawer is warped.
