Early 20th Century Small Makah-Nootka Lidded Basket with Loons

A charming early 20th century hand woven Makah Native American lidded trinket basket with circling loons at the circumference and lid. The basket has a plaited bottom and cedar bark at the inner top ip with decorative red banding.
In the 1860s, the Makah people at Neah Bay developed a cottage industry producing trinket baskets. Through the 1930s, the charming baskets were popular tourist purchases.

Condition

There is no damage or stitch loss.
