An aquatint etching page from The Great South: A Record of Journeys in Louisiana, Texas, the Indian Territory, Missouri, Arkansas, Mississippi, Alabama, Georgia, Florida, South Carolina, North Carolina, Kentucky, Tennessee, Virginia, West Virginia, and Maryland by Edward King (American, 1848–1896) titled Wayside Types in Virginia. This print depicts a variety of sketch-style portraits of a wide variety of men and is captioned ‘Wayside Types – A Sketch from the Artist’s Virginia Sketch-Book.’ It was page 5 in the aforementioned book, which was first published in 1875. It is set behind glass and an orange mat in a brown wooden frame. Edward King was an American journalist and author from Massachusets, known for his travel memoirs and journals.
Condition
Frame has scratches and loss to finish.
