An oil painting on canvas cityscape by well-listed artist Clintel Steed (American, b. 1977). This painting depicts a crowded scene with a figure standing in a wooded area. Behind them is a road with cars passing over a concrete bridge. The piece is rendered in a heavy impasto against a white background. The piece is signed twice to the verso and is presented as an unframed painting on canvas.

Clintel Steed grew up in a predominantly African American and Pentecostal community, which is an evident influence to his paintings. His work is a personal dialogue with African American culture, contemporary politics, and the Biblical struggle between good and evil. Stylistically, much of his work is rendered in thick impasto and expressionistic brushstrokes loosely applied throughout his compositions. He acquired his formal artistic training at the Art Institute of Chicago receiving a BFA in 1999 and his MFA from Indiana University in 2001. During his artistic career, he presented his work in multiple locations including the Indiana University Art Museum, New York Studio School and the National Academy of Design, among others.
