Justin Fontaine Maury Mixed Media on Canvas "Red Hot Lights"

Item Details

A print on tissue paper with acrylic embellishments on canvas titled Red Hot Lights by contemporary artist Justine Fontaine Maury (b. 1988). The work features the printed image of a nude brunette woman with her chest crossed by a censoring horizontal beige line and her pelvis exposed. The female image overlaps a white title reading ‘Red Hot Lights’, a fragmented subtitle reading ‘Sexy nude/unretouched/in 12/Bold situations’ and a ‘$2’ inscription. This piece is unsigned and remains unframed.

Justin Fontaine Maury uses his education in photography and design to create work that uses found objects, paint, and resin. Maury’s work is bright and shocking using enlarged taboo images from vintage adult film posters and classified ads combined with painted backgrounds and bold words. He layers his works with resin to bind the paint to the wooden surface presenting a structural and aesthetic depth. His work can be found in private collections and galleries in the greater New York City area, including the Borghi Fine Art Gallery.
