W. Knox Original Vintage Oil Maritime Painting on Canvas

An original vintage oil painting on canvas by early-20th century listed maritime painter W. Knox, titled A Following Wind – 6 Metre Class. The painting depicts two sailboats cutting across a deep teal body of water with a choppy, foaming surface. A bright cloudscape fills the upper half of the painting. The painting is signed in black to the lower left. Little is known about Knox, but their signature appears on many stunning early-20th century maritime paintings. This piece is presented in a wooden frame with cast surface embellishments, gold tone finish, and a hanging wire.
Condition
- to fair. Craquelure across painting’s surface. A few fairly large areas of yellowed discoloration to pale sky portion of painting.
