An original Chinese ink wash and gouache painting on silk. Artist seal and additional calligraphed inscriptions occupy lower elft. This tall, narrow composition depicts misty, mountainous terrain, inhabited by a small village of thatched roof huts. A single human is seen carrying a yoke of straw along a beaten dirt path. Signed ‘Shanshi’ (山竍) alongside a red seal. This painting is mounted under glass in a wood frame with a pale beige finish.

Condition

- discoloration and foxing throughout painting. Finish of frame is worn.
