A pair of hand colored lithographs after early 19th century engravings by François Morel (French, 1768-1832) and Pietro Parboni (French, 1783–1841) after designs by Simone Pomardi (Italian, 1757–1830). Titled Veduta dell’Arco di Tito (View of the Arch of Titus) and Veduta dell’Arco Trionfale di Settimio Severo (View of the Arch of Septimius Severus) each depicts small figures before the tall Roman architectural monuments, with a description of the sites below. Each is marked ‘Simone Pomardi dis’ in the lower left corner of the print, with the original engraver in the lower right. Each work is mounted in blue French matting with inner borders of dark blue, pink, yellow and black, and presented under glass in gold tone painted wooden frames, wired for hanging.

Condition

- some overall surface dirt; paper shows discoloration, foxing and staining; frames are scratched and begining to separate at the corners; backing paper is punctured and shows foxing.

- measurements reflect one frame exterior, with a frame opening measurement of 14.75" W x 13.5" H; both items are the same size.
