Chinese Dyed Shell Relief Sculpture of Cranes

A Chinese carved frieze. This relief sculpture is constructed of dyed and carved shell in three sections, with two cranes standing upon a rocky outcrop above arching waves at the bottom, and a pair and a singular crane flying down in the sky above, with painted gold legs behind them. The sculpture group is presented mounted upon a white mat, with six black characters and a red stamped seal along the right edge. This work is presented with a blue mat, under glass, in a dark stained wooden frame, wired and bracketed for hanging.

- wear to edges of frame; lace lining back edges discolored.
