Rare 1883 Kyser and Rex Lion Mechanical Bank

Item Details

A rare 1883 lion and two monkeys mechanical bank manufactured by Kyser and Rex of Philadelphia, PA. The bank functions by placing a coin in monkeys hand, then turn the branch at base of stump, the lion opens his mouth and the monkey drops the coin in the mouth, the little monkey pivots onto the larger monkey’s back to look at the lion. Incised mark to bottom reads ‘Pat July 17 83’.

Condition

- for age, currently the branch opens the lion’s mouth but the monkey’s movement needs coaxing to move. Silver painted finish shows wear.
