Antique Wooden Yarn Winder

Item Details

An antique wooden yarn winder. This features six spindle arms with winding spools at the end and held up by a wooden shaft that rests on a pentagon-shaped base with splay legs. In the past, after yarn was spun, the yarn was wound into standard skeins. In order to more easily measure the yarn, the yarn was wound around the arms of the reel where gauges inside the reel’s box would tick off the length of the yarn.
