It is illustrated with black and white plates after Howard Pyle, Arthur Heming, Corwin Knapp Linson, Frank Vincent DuMond, and John Reinhard Weguelin. The dark blue cover features an Art Nouveau style design in gold and green with a related design on the spine. It was published by Charles Scribner’s Sons in New York. The Broken Soldier and the Maid of France was published in 1919 by Harper & Brothers Publishers in London and New York. The blue cover features gold lettering and a medieval wood-cut look image of Joan of Arc on horseback.
