After Michelangelo Buonarroti Offset Lithograph "Study of a Kneeling Nude"
Item Details
An offset lithograph on paper after a circa 1501 pen and ink drawing titled Study of a Kneeling Nude Girl for The Entombment by Italian master Michelangelo Buonarroti (1475-1564). This depicts a nude young woman, kneeling and turned to one side, resting back on bent toes. Her head is turned and bowed as she looks at the crown of thorns in her bent right arm, as her left arm wraps around her body, holding the nails of the cross. This work is presented with a pale pink mat, under glass in a gilt gesso frame, wired for hanging.
Condition
- stains to mat; lower left corner of frame was broken and roughly repaired with a foamy adhesive; chips/ cracks to gesso,;stains to finish of frame.
Dimensions
- measurement of the frame exterior, with a visible image of 4.75" W x 8.75" H.
