Kirk "Repousse" Sterling Silver Flatware

A sterling silver flatware service by S. Kirk & Sons housed in a wooden chest. The service is decorated in the popular Repousse pattern first issued in 1828 and consisting highly embossed floral decoration. The set is comprised of twelve knives with sterling hollow handles and stainless steel blades together with seven bouillon spoons, five tablespoons, twelve teaspoons, twelve salad forks, and twelve dinner forks. The group also includes a flat handle butter knife, two serving spoons, and two ladles. There is a carving set composed of a knife and fork with a stainless blade as well as a fruit knife also having a stainless component. There are marks impressed on the flatware reading ‘S Kirk & Son Sterling’ and the pieces with stainless steel were produced during the Steiff period of the factory beginning in 1983. The total approximate weight is 71.65 ozt excluding the pieces with stainless steel blades.
