19th Century Passebon Ship Hand Tinted Engraving

An antique engraving titled Vaisseau du truism rang a la voille, after a drawing by Captain Henry Sbonski de Passebon, engraved by Claude Randon. The 19th century piece depicts an European merchant sailing vessel, with another ship to the right background and rocky shoreline to the left. The engraving is from a collection of nautical drawings first published from Marseille, France, the nautical home of Louis XIV seagoing arsenal. Attribution at bottom left: ‘Randon delineauit et sculpsit cura D’ni de Passebon Equitis’ Royal privilege at bottom right: ‘Marsiliae cum privilegio Regis’. The engraving is displayed under glass in a dark wood frame. The piece is wired to the back.
