1758 French Engraved Map of L'Isle de Saint Christophe

A 1758 French hand tinted and engraved marine map titled Carte Reduite de L’Isle de Saint Christophe, engraved by Petit, with the cartographer Jacques-Nicholas Bellin. This antique piece is an exquisitely engraved and highly detailed large-scale marine map of St. Kitts, with beautifully delineated geological formations, topography, settlement names, and a lovely tinted title cartouche. At the upper right is a detailed inset map of Isle de Nieves in a rococo hand-tinted frame. The map includes marine soundings, anchorages, channels, shoals, and navigational sightings. The map was engraved by Petit, engraver for the Depot Générale de la marine, noted as such on the map. With the seal and Prix. Trente Sols.
