A hand-colored engraving on paper by Thomas Sutherland (English, 19th-Century) after an original painting by Dean Wolstenholme (English, 19th-Century) titled Fox Hunting. The work depicts an English fox hunting scene, wherein the hounds have spotted the fox and have given way to the chase. To the lower margin is a printed poem, publication information, the title, and the names of the artist and engraver. To the upper margin is ‘Plate 2’. Under glass, the item is presented in a black and gilt wood frame. To the verso is a framer’s label.
Condition
- extensive foxing to paper and print; water stain along the upper right corner; minor paint loss to frame.
