A watercolor on paper of an architectural landscape by listed Ohio artist Robert Herrmann (1922 – 1996), created in 1989. The painting depicts a building rendered in flat blocks of color in red, orange and black. It is surrounded by an abstract landscape in teal, under a light blue sky with a single cloud floating overhead. The painting is signed with artist’s initials and dated in ink to the lower right. Presented in white matting and wrapped in acetate.
Herrmann acquired his formal artistic and architectural training at the University of Cincinnati, University of Wisconsin, Ohio State University, University of Iowa, and Columbia University. While professionally trained, he chose to never exhibit his work publicly, making his first solo exhibit posthumous.
