Original Edgar Yaeger Pastel Drawing

An original pastel drawing on the back of an envelope by well-listed American artist Edgar Yaeger (1904-1997), created in 1928. The drawing depicts a still life arrangement of fruit in a bowl on a table. The paper is signed and dated to the lower left. Presented in white matting and wrapped in acetate.
Known for his modern abstract style and his WPA murals of the Depression era, Yaeger was influenced by European modernists such as Paul Cézanne, Pablo Picasso and Giorgio de Chirico. Yaeger’s work has been exhibited at many institutions including the Museum of Modern Art, the Detroit Institute of Art, the Corcoran Gallery, the Art Institute of Chicago, and the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts, among others.
