A figural charcoal drawing on paper by well-listed American artist Edgar Yaeger (1904-1997), created in 1978. The drawing depicts a full-body portrayal of a draped female figure and a detail of her face. It is signed and dated to the lower right. Presented under pink matting without glass or plastic wrap.
Known for his modern abstract style and his WPA murals of the Depression era, Yaeger was influenced by European modernists such as Paul Cézanne, Pablo Picasso, and Giorgio de Chirico. Yaeger’s work has been exhibited at many institutions including the Museum of Modern Art, the Detroit Institute of Art, the Corcoran Gallery, the Art Institute of Chicago, and the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts, among others.
