An original 1921 watercolor landscape on paper by artist Gertrude E. Rhodes. The painting, titled Rock Creek Park, Washington, D.C. depicts a bridge over the pastoral Rock Creek, flanked to either side by trees and green vegetation. The image is signed by hand in black ink to the lower right margin. The piece is double matted in green and yellow and presented under UV-protective glass in a black frame with wire to the back for hanging. The frame backing includes a framer’s sticker and an informational paper stating the work’s title and date, noting that the piece was ‘painted from life’.

Condition

- rippling to paper under glass; surface scratching to frame; loosening joints to frame; sticker residue to front glass; framer’s sticker and informational paper adhered to verso; item would benefit from cleaning. (ARTIAS)
