An oil painting on paper titled As I Saw Me by listed artist Carolyn Zimmerman (Cincinnati, b. 1903). Created in 1945, the work depicts a self-portrait in abstracted layers of paint. Signed by the artist to the lower right corner. Labeled in graphite to the verso. Presented in white matting and wrapped in acetate.
Carolyn Zimmerman was born in Walton, Indiana and became the wife of prominent Cincinnati artist Carl Zimmerman. She started her formal artistic training at the Cincinnati Art Academy and studied with French sculptor and painter Antoine Bourdelle as well as Madame Levy-Ginsborg in Paris. Zimmerman body of work primarily focuses on forested landscapes. Carolyn along with her husband Carl Zimmerman were members of the Cincinnati School of Painters.

- discoloration to the blue paper around the figure’s head due to age and exposure.
