An acrylic painting on board by Cincinnati-based artist Carolyn Zimmerman (b. 1903). Portrayed with loose brushstrokes and impasto, this painting features foliage leaves in a varied palette of greens, blues, violets, and browns. It is signed to the lower right, presented under white matting, and wrapped in acetate.
Carolyn Zimmerman was born in Walton, Indiana and married prominent Cincinnati artist Carl Zimmerman. She started her formal artistic training at the Cincinnati Art Academy and studied with French sculptor and painter Antoine Bourdelle as well as Madame Levy-Ginsborg in Paris. Zimmerman body of work primarily focuses on forested landscapes. Carolyn along with her husband Carl Zimmerman were members of the Cincinnati School of Painters.
