A large Chinese coromandel lacquer eight-panel folding screen. Known as kuan cai, literally “incised colors” in Chinese, coromandel lacquer features a black lacquer field with designs incised and painted a multitude of vibrant shades. Each panel has ornately carved details that are hand painted. The screen has a bird and floral motif. The screen sits on wooden legs. It is unmarked.
