An original watercolor on paper titled Building Shadow by listed Ohio artist Robert Herrmann (1922 – 1996), created in 1988. The painting depicts a skyscraper with the shadow of an adjacent building falling across its side. The cityscape is backed by the sky. It is numbered nine of eighty-eight to the lower right, and is signed in pencil to the verso. Presented in white matting and wrapped in acetate.

Herrmann acquired his formal artistic and architectural training at the University of Cincinnati, University of Wisconsin, Ohio State University, University of Iowa, and Columbia University. While professionally trained, he chose to never exhibit his work publicly, making his first solo exhibit posthumous.
