A hand knotted semi antique Persian Kashan area rug. The rug features a central lozenge in a palette of pale blue, ivory, moss green, pink and mocha. The surrounding field is populated with a dense pattern of lotus flowers and filler palmettes with lancet leaves and sprays of flower blossoms. The corner spandrels are rendered in navy blue and tan and echo the field pattern and colors. It has a compound border, featuring an indigo field with alternating palmettes and lotus flowers with scrolled split leaves in the field colors. It has a tied cotton warp fringe to either end.
