1950s Pabst Beer Football Advertisement

Item Details

A late 1950s Pabst Blue Ribbon beer football advertisement. The sign is made has a heavy cardboard frame made to look like wood grain. A large melon-style football is on the left, in 3-D fashion (half of the football). The section to the right has a red velvet-like wall paper background with a picture of a football team from the late 1880s doing the ‘flying wedge’. The ad is titled ’Football’s Old-Time Greats’; there’s a list of nine who played from the late 1800s to 1912: Pudge Heffelfinger, Ma Newell, Frank Hinkey, Thomas T. Hare, Charles Dudley Daly, Tom Shevlin, Walter Eckersall, Ted Coy and Jim Thorpe. A half plastic 3-D bottle of Pabst Blue Ribbon is at the lower right corner. There is a small chain on the back in which to hang the ad.

- football has indentations and a small crack; other parts have minor wear
