After Henry Alken Hand-Colored Engravings on Paper of a Fox Hunt
Item Details
An assortment of hand-colored engravings on paper of fox hunt after original works by Henry Alken (1810 – 1894). Featured prints include Drawing the Cover and The Death, which are both a part of the fox hunting series engraved by R.G. Reeves. An additional The Death is included, yet is an entirely separate composition by Alken that was engraved by J. Phelps. Lastly included is In Full Cry, engraved by F.C. Lewis. Each print on rag paper features an embossed border, as well as an inscription to the lower margins denoting artist, publisher, medium, title and brief synopsis of the rendered scene.
Condition
- pencil inscriptions found to lower right corners; discoloration present; residue found on margins of Drawing the Cover.

- measures largest sheet size; plate size of The Death and In Full Cry measures approximately identical 23.25" W x 16.75" H; plate size of Drawing the Cover and The Death measures approximately identical 17.25" W x 14.0" H.
