Item Details
paper
A watercolor and gouache painting on paper of St. Basil’s Cathedral on Red Square in Moscow by a Russian artist. This work depicts the iconic multi-colored, crenelated domes, with the spires of the Kremlin and Spasskaya visible, each bearing a Russian Orthodox cross at the top. The buildings are rendered in realistic representations of the actual colors and are shown against a threatening sky with a black and blue watercolor wash. The piece is signed by the artist to the lower right corner and dated ‘93’. It is presented behind layered gray and pink mats under acrylic glass in a pink wooden frame and wired ready to hang. A handwritten note in an ornate cursive style is attached to the verso, written in Russian and signed by the artist with an illegible signature and dated ‘1993’.
